Lunch Is Where It’s At

Lunch time is always an important time at a WordCamp. It’s time to take a break and process what you’ve heard so far. It’s time to meet new people, re-affirm friendships, and discuss why San Diego is the greatest.

Lunch is included with your ticket on Saturday. It will be provided by The Wild Thyme Company and will be a boxed lunch.

Each lunch will include fresh fruit, kettle chips, dessert, and an all important mint. Choices will be:

  • Black Forest Ham Sandwich with Spanish manchego cheese, caramelized onions, arugula, & roasted garlic aioli
  • Lemon-Thyme Chicken Sandwich with organic lettuce, tomatoes, havarti cheese, & sun dried tomato aioli (there will be a Gluten Free version of this too)
  • Roast Turkey Sandwich with applewood-smoked bacon, lettuce, roma tomatoes, & Dijonaisse
  • Thai Chicken Wrap with soy-ginger chicken, carrots, cucumber, jasmine rice, lettuce, & peanut sauce
  • Grilled Vegetable Wrap with seasonal grilled vegetables, arugula, & white bean hummus (This is the Vegan, Vegetarian, Dairy-free and Lactose-free option)

However, if that doesn’t get you excited there are plenty of other options nearby. Within 5 minutes walk, there are places like these:

If you need to change your lunch dietary requirement preference, please click on the “edit” link in your ticket confirmation email to update that info.

Happy eating!

Less Net, More Friends: The State of the Web at WCSD

WCSD Internet

We are doing Internet a bit differently at WordCamp San Diego this year: we aren’t doing it.

*But….WHY?!??*

We really want this camp to be about community. Meet new people, have meaningful conversions, give focused attention to the speakers.

*If you’re still freaking out*

We will have an Internet “lounge”. This will be an area where, if you absolutely MUST be on the Internet, you can be. The WiFi lounge will have small tables and be located near the snacks and sponsors, ensuring you are surrounded by potential new friends.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

WordCamp San Diego Help Bar

WordCamp San Diego 2016 will have a Help Bar (previously called a Happiness Bar) to help answer your WordPress questions.

New to WordPress? The Help Bar can help!

Want to learn how to customize your theme? The Help Bar can help!

Need to find a plugin for your site? The Help Bar can help!

If you’d just like to chat one-on-one with someone about your WordPress site, then guess what? The Help Bar can help!

Some tips to help you get the best out the Help Bar:

  • Bring your laptop
  • Remember your login details 🙂
  • No problem is too small
  • We don’t know everything. If we don’t know the answer, we’ll help you find someone who does

Staffed by volunteers from various backgrounds, the Help Bar will be available on Saturday from 9am – 12:10pm and 2pm – 3pm. Then on Sunday from 12:40pm – 4pm.

Feel free to stop by if you have questions, or if you want to help answer questions too! See you there.

Announcing WordCamp San Diego 2016

All systems go! The WordCamp San Diego 2016 organizing team is pleased to officially announce next year’s WordCamp will be held April 23-24, 2016 at NTC at Liberty Station in beautiful Point Loma, San Diego – California. This two day event will feature prominent local and nonlocal speakers, sponsors, and attendees coming together in the name of WordPress.

Make Waves

The theme for this year is “Make Waves”. Every WordPress user has the potential to leave their mark and create a significant impression whether it be by providing services, software, support, or something else that’s special and unique. The WordPress community is full of smart folks who are entrepreneurial, innovative, and disruptive. The WCSD organizing team pledges to assemble a conference that empowers you to further your diverse skillsets, meet great people, make new friends, accept new challenges, and have a lot of fun in the process. Here’s to WordCamp San Diego 2016!

Naval Training Center (NTC) at Liberty Station

This year’s event will be held at NTC at Liberty Station. Due to complications with last year’s venue we had to seek a new location and we think we’ve nailed it. Liberty Station is one of the most unique locations in San Diego and is of historical importance. The Naval Training Center trained 1.75 million sailors over the course of 74 years in use. With so many military veterans in San Diego and within the WordPress community this venue seemed to fit perfectly.

Where San Diego Gets Creative

New Website

We all like new and shiny things right? Of course we do! We hope you enjoy the new WordCamp San Diego 2016 website and we want to say thanks to our friends up north in the Los Angeles WordPress community for their help and support creating it. It may be a little bare right now, but don’t worry we’re just getting started! You can expect a lot of content leading up to the event as we continue planning and progressing towards the date.

Speakers and Sponsors

WordCamps wouldn’t be possible without the generous speakers and donations from our sponsors. We appreciate every single speaker and sponsor who has helped our Camp in year’s past. We will be seeking local and non-local Speaker and Sponsors in the coming weeks. If you’re interested and want to be first to hear we encourage you to subscribe for news and updates:

Interested in Attending?

We’re still in the process of fine tuning the event plans and tickets aren’t yet on sale. When they do go on sale we will post information on this website, on social media (WCSD Twitter and Facebook),
